šŸI moved to Beehiiv!

A no-brainer

So up until today, Iā€™ve been using Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to send these emails.

As of today though, Iā€™ve made the move to Beehiiv! I had an onboarding call with one of their team members earlier today and got set up within the hour.

Ā»By the by, if you use my affiliate link above to get started with Beehiv, you get a 30-day free trial + 20% OFF for 3 months.Ā«

Anyway, Iā€™d heard a lot about Beehiiv (including the and there are a few big reasons I decide to switch:

-I like the look of their emails. Some of my favourite creators use them and I like the look and feel of their newsletters and landing pages. I love the formatting - lots of white space and cool, minimalist layouts.

-Beehiiv offer the option to monetise with ads! This is a big draw. After Beehiiv gets to know your audience and starts to figure out what your newsletters are about, it automatically serves you up ad placements for your newsletter. You can see how that looks in this video.

-Beehiiv feels more creator-focused, and a lot like Substack, which I also admire for its look and feel and overall focus. Kit has a tonne of automations, sequences and other features but I donā€™t use any of those (apart from the welcome email), and so it felt like overkill for my simple newsletter.

I also like how you start each newsletter with a post! Again, this is just like Substack. It feels very natural and fluid. Thatā€™s how I started this email. When I opened up my dashboard for the first time post-migration, I saw the posts tab, clicked on it, and just started writing what you are reading now!

I look forward to playing around with the features over the next few emails. Itā€™s also exciting to think Iā€™ll have ad opportunities hopefully served up over the next while!

How about you? Do you have a newsletter or are you planning to start one?

Most of my subscribers have come from Twitter/X, but it may be different for you. There are always avenues to growing a list. And in a world of algorithms, when it comes to building an online business, you need to own that relationship with your audience.

Next up - Iā€™ll share whatā€™s happening with my lead gen site and a couple of my niche sites, and how I believe I can give one of them a good push over the next 6 months with a view to getting it into Mediavine Journey! Stay tuned.

And let me know, if you own an email list or plan to start one, what are your thoughts on Beehiiv? Heard good things?

Chat over the next few days,
Anton
